Bio

I have been a teacher at Russell Elementary for the past 30 years. I have two Associate degrees from Macon state college. One degree is in data processing and the other is in Early Childhood Education. I went to work on my Bachelor degree at Fort Valley State University. I graduated with top honors in 1994, as well as, being recognized in the prestigious book of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges Award. After I had been teaching for eight years, I went back to school and graduated with my Master degree from Walden University.  I have been trained in reading instruction that focuses on addressing the various academic needs of struggling readers. I have taught 26 years as an EIP reading specialist (Early Intervention Program). My EIP job was definitely made for me! My focus is to provide diverse instruction to meet the needs of all my students, while instilling motivation, confidence, and resilience.   As children excel at different paces, it is my belief that teacher's should celebrate each student's successes no matter how large or small. It is imperative that my students know how much I care for them and support their efforts.

I have been blessed with two amazing children. My daughter is a Junior at the University of Art and Design studying to become an interior designer. My son is a former Marine and works at a panel building company in North Georgia. I have an amazing daughter-in-law and an adorable grandson. My husband of thirty-one years is a carpenter by trade and works for an electrical corporation company. I am so very proud of my family.
