Bio
- Dr. Hunnell is a product of Houston County Schools. She attended Centerville Elementary, Feagin Mill Middle, and Houston County High. Growing up, she imagined herself taking over her granddad's pharmacy store, Shepherd Pharmacy. But in high school, to study for tests, she found herself "playing teacher" and that is where the passion began! Armed with a cool new marker board and dry erase markers to study with, she began a journey to early education and special education. She graduated in the inaugural class at Macon State College, now Middle Georgia State University. From there, she began her teaching career in first grade while also pursuing higher education at Walden University. She earned a masters of science in curriculum design a doctorate in assessment and instructional practices, with a focus on reading attainment. Dr. Hunnell has taught grades one, three, and five. When asked which she prefers, she answered, "There is something special about each grade, so I cannot decide which I like best!" Now that her daughter is away at college, she lives with her fifteen year old son, and cats. When she isn't working, she enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and physical fitness.
