Hi, Russell Patriots! My name is Janet Avaritt and I am the Library Media Specialist here at Russell.

I began my teaching career in Jones County in 2008 after graduating from Georgia College and State University (Go Bobcats!). I earned my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2011, have an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education, and my Media Specialist certification. I moved to Houston County and have been a proud Patriot since 2019. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades and built unforgettable relationships and memories with my students, their families, and other teachers. I received the honor of being named Mattie Wells Elementary School's Teacher of the Year in 2013 and Russell Elementary School's Teacher of the Year in 2023. When I am not at school, my husband, energetic twin boys, and two dogs keep me busy. I'm an active member of Abundant Grace Church in Warner Robins. We have another baby boy on the way and we're very excited to meet him in October! This is my first year as a media specialist and I'm so excited to start this new journey! I am proud to be a part of RES...the GREATEST school in the universe!
