I am a product of the Houston County School System and graduated from Houston County High School. In 2007, I obtained a Bachelor's degree in early childhood and special education in the inaugural class from Middle Georgia State University, formerly Macon State College. In 2009, I earned a Master's degree in curriculum, instruction, and assessment (CIA). In January 2017, I received my doctorate degree with a focus on CIA.

I began my teaching career at Kings Chapel Elementary teaching first grade. After teaching for two years, I spent the next two years at home with my babies as a stay-at-home mommy. In 2011, I began teaching third grade at Kay Road Elementary, in Byron, GA. Last year, I came back to my home county and began teaching fifth grade GTE here at Russell Elementary. The 2016-2017 school year is my second year in this position. My favorite grade to teach so far is fifth!

My name is Amanda Hunnell and I am the fifth grade GTE teacher at Russell Elementary. I have two children, Allison who is 16 and in the tenth grade, and Aiden, who is 7 and is in second grade. I also have two lazy cats, Catey and Rexie. I enjoy reading, traveling, and bike riding. When I'm not at school, you might catch me hanging out with my family or shopping!
