Student Council members are selected by their teachers as model students for the school. They are chosen leaders who work on monthly projects to integrate Russell Elementary with the local community. These students work throughout the month to conduct fundraisers to complete the various projects listed below:

·         #socktober – The group collected 559 pairs of socks to locate to local shelters.

·         Feed the City – The group is working, in conjunction with Feed the City schools. to collect as many cans of cranberry sauce as possible to feed the hungry for Thanksgiving.

·         Hospital Heroes – The group will work to collect crayons, coloring books, and games to donate to the Children’s Hospital in Macon. They will spend time visiting with patients and conducting activities.

·         Stockings of Love – The group will collect items to send stockings to military personnel overseas for the holidays.

·         Helping Hands – The group will collect dog food to donate to local animal shelters. In addition, they will work an adoption day by walking, cleaning, feeding, and playing with pets looking for a new home.
